Home Again, Finnegan

Well, I have once again made the once-in-a-life-time, 2,000 mile trip from Indianapolis to Los Angeles. I was not really looking forward to it, but I actually enjoyed it. I had a bunch of music and some stand up comedy to listen to. The scenery was pretty awesome too.

I also had Wal-Mart every 200 miles or so to stop at and walk around. I called it the Wal-Mart Tour 2005. And I can say from experience that where ever you are, the atmosphere in Wal-Mart is pretty much the same in every store.

The second night on my trip I stopped at the Wal-Mart in Kingman, AZ and spent the night in the parking lot. How many people can say that they drove from IN to CA by themselves, and how many can say that they have spent the night in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I think that qualifies me as a minority. I am going to look into getting some government grants for that.

Now I'm planning on a cross country road trip from LA to NY.

David Spade

So after I got done working out with my new gym buddy, Harland Williams, I went down to the corner of my block where David Spade was filming a commercial for Comedy Central.

It was pretty cool to get to see him, he is one of my favorite comedians. "Just Shoot Me", "Joe Dirt", "Dickie Roberts" are all hilarious.

Anyway, these are the photos that I took just a few yards from my house.

Saint Ralph

Ok, so it probably seems that all I do is go to the movies. But I just love movies, get over it. I saw another film tonight. Another great film. It's a Canadian Independent film called "Saint Ralph." To give a brief description from www.imdb.com

"Set in Hamilton in 1954, Saint Ralph is the unlikely story of Ralph Walker, a ninth grader who outran everyone's expectations except his own in his bold quest to win the Boston Marathon. Ralph is a fatherless 14-year-old with a seriously ill mother, who knows he's a time bomb waiting to explode into greatness, except that he has no idea where that greatness will manifest itself. An unfortunate incident of self-abuse in the community pool inadvertently sets him on this road when, as penance, Ralph is conscripted to the cross-country team. Desperate to believe a miracle will bring his mother out of a coma, Ralph becomes a convert to the church of running, and determines to win the Boston Marathon. "

This is a great film. It isn't playing everywhere, so if you see it playing in a theater, drop whatever you are doing and go see this.

California Fire

Ok, so there was another fire today in Southern California. It was just a few blocks from my apartment. We couldn't get that close to it, cause it was in a valley on the other side of a mountain. They got the fire out after a while, but it was pretty cool to see the Fire Helicopters flying over and dropping water out on it.

Harland Williams

Another celebrity. I was working out today, and I see Harland Williams working out right next to me. It was pretty cool. I met him before when I worked for the excellent Wank and O'Brien Show in Indianapolis. He is starting his comedy tour this weekend. If you see him in your area, definitely go and check him out.

The Dukes of Hazzard

I saw "The Dukes of Hazzard" tonight. Such a great film. I loved the show growing up, but watching it recently it can be kind of cheesy. The great thing about this film is that is has the same feel of the show, but good. This is one of the first TV show based film that has been done that I have watched the original series.

After seeing this film, I would like to see a movie of other shows I used to watch like "Knight Rider", "MacGyver", and "Golden Girls."

It was done by some of the people that did "Super Troopers." It's just a fun film to see.

Last Day

Ok, so today was my last day at Starbucks. I don't think my manager is fully aware of that, though, but oh well. There is something liberating about knowing you are quitting. You can do and say pretty much whatever you want. It's not like they are going to fire you or something.

Oh, but a celebrity did come in today. Fiona from "Shrek." Well, it really wasn't her, it was just some really ugly chick.

Well, now I gotta wash all my clothes to get that coffee smell out for the last time.

Old Navy

Ok, so I quit Starbucks and started working Loss Prevention for Old Navy today. It's a pretty good job. I just wear regular clothes and walk around the store to stop people from stealing the fun, cool clothes available only at Old Navy. It pays way more then Starbucks, so that's a plus. I mean WAY more. I actually make more at this job then I did doing L. P. for Meijer. It's weird that I am making more in California then I did in Indy. But I guess that is why I did move out here. God has a way of making things work out.

Psalms 1:
1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,or stand around with sinners,or join in with scoffers.
2 But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants;day and night they think about his law.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.

Michael W. Smith Concert

Ok, so I drove 3 hours to see 2 Smitty shows back-to-back. They were awesome! Well worth the $30 for each show. Actually, no, they were $15 a piece. Actually, no, they were free. Two free concerts back-to-back...man, it was awesome. It was at the California Mid-State Fair.

The first show wasn't as good as the seconde. Smitty's fan base has become older, and they just like to sit and smile at the concerts. The second show had a younger crowd, so it was cool. A great show.
