Last Call with Carson Daly

Ok, so I went to "Last Call with Carson Daly" tonight. It was alright. Jason Lee was on for "My Name is Earl", and Shia Lebouef was there for "The Greatest Game Ever Played". The show was alright, I don't know if I would go see it again unless there is someone that I really wanted to see. They taped the show tonight, but it won't air until Friday Sept. 30th. During the Jason Lee interview, Carson talks as if it was a week in the future, but Jason keeps talking in the present.

160,000 Miles

Well, I was driving home from work tonight, and my 96 Ford Taurus hit 160,000 miles.

Rain

Well, it rained today. Not big news to most people, I know, but this was the first time it rained since I've moved to LA in June. People here go crazy when it rains. I guess it's comparable to getting 8" of snow in Indiana. They don't know how to drive, and don't go out unless it's absolutely necessary.

The Big Easy

Ok, so I was walking home from church this morning, and I pass Grauman's Egyptian Theater. Now, I've never been in there so I decided to check it out. When I got in there, I found out that a screening of "The Big Easy" was about to start and the proceeds were going to the Red Cross. But the other thing is that Dennis Quaid was there.

So I go into the theater, and see some seats open in front of Dennis, so naturally I sit there. There was a guy that was sitting a few seats down that turned out to be the director of the movie.

It was pretty cool sitting there, cause they would talk during the movie about the different scenes. From now on when I go to the movies, I am going to make sure the star and director are going to be in the audience. It's the only way to watch movies.

Green Room

Ok, so I went to the Jimmy Kimmel Live show tonight. Tracy Morgan (SNL, The Longest Yard), Ralph Macchio (Outsiders, Karate Kid) and Hanson (MmmBop) were on. It was pretty funny. I think the show is funnier live then on TV. The concert was outside, so that was pretty cool. Hanson played "MmmBop" of course, "This Time Around", "Crazy Beautiful", and some song where they shouted 'Hey!' a lot.

After the show, there was a party in the green room for the first 50 people that showed up to the show. So that was pretty cool. There was free food and drinks and I got to play Pool and PS2. How many people have played PS2 in Jimmy Kimmel's green room? Tracy and Hanson were in the room, so that was kind of cool too.

After the show, they gave us "The Longest Yard" which has Tracy Morgan in it, which comes out next Tuesday.

No Surprise from Switchfoot

Well,I just listened to the new Switchfoot album, "Nothing Is Sound" and true to form, they had 1 good song on there. And it wasn't even that great. It's "Daisy", the last song on the album. That would have been the one they probably would have put on a sampler CD tricking people to get their album. Now, I am not saying the band is not any good, good is relative. And they do have a few songs that I like. But I wouldn't spend any more money on them, or take time to see a concert.

California Blackout

Well, the power went out today. It came back on my apartment after a few minutes, but I heard on CNN that people were stuck in elevators for an good hour or so. This is the third blackout since I've been here, that I know about. It's really becoming annoying.

Yet Another First

So, I was walking around the Mall where I prevent loss for Old Navy (Old Gravy as the thieves like to call it) when I saw a store called "Relaxation Spot." There was an Asian guy standing out front and he asked me if I would like a massage. It was $12 for 15 minutes, and I was kind of hesitant so he gave me a free sample.

Man, this guy was good! So I got a massage. It was my first professional massage. It was very nice.

Not something I would do everyday or week, but I may try to do it every month or so.

Another First

So I was sitting in my apartment in Los Angeles watching "Good Will Hunting" on Bravo, and at 10:29 PM I heard my first gun shots. Not first ever, just first in LA. At 10:30, I heard another one, but it wasn't the first one I heard, so it didn't have any significance in my life.

Switchfoot

Several year's ago,I had 2 different Christian Music Sampler CD's that each had a Switchfoot song on it; "Chem 6A" and "Life and Love and Why." I really liked those 2 songs, so I went out and bought their first CD, "Legend of Chin." I was disappointed. The only 2 songs I liked were the 2 that I already had. So needless to say, that was the last Switchfoot CD I ever bought. Then a while back, I heard their song on the radio. I still wasn't impressed. My roommate though, is practically in love with them and has 2 or 3 of their songs as ringtones, so I have to hear, "This is your life..." all the time.

Anyway, they were at the "World Famous KROQ" radio station a couple of blocks from my apartment so I went to meet them and to ask for my money back. However, it is more of my nature to try to edify, so when I met them, I just told him that my favorite songs were the 2 I mentioned above. He seemed to be impressed that I had their first CD.

They were there to promote their new CD coming out next week, so my roommate will probably get it, so I will hear it and then see if they are any better yet. Oh, they are pretty nice people though.
